There are many ways to find jobs in our current market, but the days of mailing resumes have been left in the past. Many recruiters and potential employers complete preliminary virtual background checks that mostly consist of looking at your social media profiles. Further, as you are seeking a new employment opportunity, you can find more information about the potential company thanks to the technology at hand.

Because there are more questions than answers, NPR and Twitter have joined forces to work with HR social media experts. On Thursday, January 31 at 5 p.m. EST, @NPRjobs and Twitter’s @jointheflock will moderate a Twitter chat. Use the hashtag #NPRTwitterChat to join in on the conversation.

Two of the experts who will be on hand during the chat, Susan Strayer Lamotte, Founder of Exaqueo, and Lars Shmidt, NPR’s Senior Director of Talent Acquisition & Innovation, were kind enough to give us a brief preview of the type of information you will get from the upcoming Twitter chat.

If you have never joined a Twitter chat before there are a few simple options available. You can use Tweetchat, more specifically this link, and then sign in with your Twitter name; you can also search for the hashtag and when the results appear, select “All” instead of “Top” (see below image). This will ensure you see the most recent tweets in the chat, and as new tweets come in a prompt will appear to let you know. You can find even more options and information here.

More information about the Twitter chat can be found on NPR.

You can also add this to your Google calendar through the link below.
