Mission

Because technology continues to change the way we communicate and access information; Social Media Club DC (hashtag #smcdc on Twitter) provides people in the Greater Washington DC metropolitan area with opportunities to explore and share ideas and information about social media. Our group is completely run by volunteers, with all proceeds going back into our events (with most of our yearly reserves going into our annual happy hour in June).

For more information about our parent organization, see their site Social Media Club.

Social Media Club (SMC) hosts conversations in cities around the world that explore key issues facing professionals and organizations as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other. SMC’s primary missions are focused on promoting media literacy, promoting standards based technologies, championing ethical behavior and sharing our collective knowledge and insights with each other and the world.

SMC is a US based, but globally active, 501(c)6 non-profit professional membership association. As the world’s largest organization of social media professionals, we reach leading influencers and social media enthusiasts in face-to-face meetings held in over 230 cities around the world. You can  become a professional member and support the development of the industry for only $100 per year by joining online at http://socialmediaclub.org, though SMCDC team members and non-profits receive discounts. However, if you are reading this or have been to one of our events, you are part of your local chapter! Want to join the team? Each June we recruit new team members, and throughout the year we seek partnerships and sponsors. Stay tuned to our site, newsletter, and social feeds for the latest on how you can join or use the contact page.
